Everett Simpson Receives 25-Year Sentence for Kidnapping and Assault
According to True Crime News, in a troubling case that has shocked communities across Vermont and New Hampshire Everett Simpson aged 46 has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for a horrific crime spree involving kidnapping and assault. The incident which occurred on January 4, 2019 began when Everett Simpson escaped from a treatment facility in Vermont violating his bond conditions. Shortly after his escape Everett Simpson stole a van and drove to New Hampshire. Once in New Hampshire Simpson abandoned the stolen van and proceeded to the Mall of New Hampshire in Manchester. There he forcibly entered a woman’s car pushing her into the front seat alongside her 4-year-old child and drove off. Authorities say Simpson had been searching for his estranged wife in Vermont but changed his plans. During the ordeal Simpson took the woman and her child back to Vermont against their will. Prosecutors detailed that Simpson subjected the woman to multiple sexual assaults both in the car and later at a hotel. Eventually he released the mother and child but continued his crime spree by stealing another car and fleeing the state once more.

Law enforcement caught up with Everett Simpson in Pennsylvania after a series of pursuits where he was finally apprehended. He faced charges including kidnapping and interstate transportation of a stolen vehicle. In April 2023 Simpson was found guilty on all charges leading to his sentencing on June 17, 2024 to 25 years in prison and an additional five years of supervision following his release.
