A somber atmosphere envelops Nashville as the Cumberland River unveils a grim secret: the body of 22-year-old Riley Strain, a University of Missouri student who went missing earlier this month. As reported by True Crime Daily, the discovery made on March 22, sends shockwaves through the community.
Strain’s remains were found by a worker combing the river ending the search that gripped the city. According to Nashville Police Chief John Drake, Strain was still wearing the same shirt and watch as he was last seen. The police observed the absence of apparent foul play but continued to investigate the circumstances leading to Strain’s untimely demise. The autopsy results are pending still.

Riley Strain Before His Mysterious Disappearance
Surrounding the disappearance of Riley Strain, several key factors have emerged. Strain’s evening of March 8 took a fateful turn after being ejected from a downtown Nashville bar. Surveillance footage captured his interaction with law enforcement near Gay Street. According to the officers, Strain “did not appear distressed.” It was his last known location as his phone’s last ping was near Gay Street and James Robertson Parkway.
Days later, two TikTokers stumbled upon Strain’s bank card nestled on the riverbank. Simultaneously, the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission initiated an investigation into Strain’s alcohol consumption, probing into the possibility of over-serving.
