The death occurred just before midnight on January 5 in an apartment in the St. Thomas Square neighborhood of downtown, according to the Tulsa Police Department.
Investigators obtained exclusive body-cam footage of the crime scene
“Authorities learned the children’s parents were sleeping upstairs when their 12-year-old daughter woke them up and claimed she stabbed her 9-year-old brother,” police said on January 6. As the authorities reviewed the footage the 12-year-old girl who was not named said, ” I’m so sorry, she shouted through tears. She keeps repeating saying sorry.
Later on, April Lynda almost fell down the stairs and kept screaming, holding one stabbed child. “There’s stab wounds. In the chest,” Lyda tells her daughter, who repetitively apologizes. “You better pray to God he f–––––– lives.” She screams in despair.
The footage continues, and the 12-year-old girl leads the authorities to the knife used in the attack
The girl explains that she threw the evidence outside of their window. “Did you use a knife?” asked April Lida, reappearing and frantically raising her hand in the doorway, her daughter explains. In the police car, the girl continued to insist that she was going to jail and asked if she was going to jail. The police officers are torn between comforting her by saying it’s too early to tell, or by saying she won’t go to jail.
