Chicago Police Officer Areanah Preston who was fatally shot outside her South Side home will be laid to rest this Wednesday.

Funeral Service of Chicago Police Officer Areanah Preston

Chicago Police Officer Areanah Preston was fatally shot and killed outside her South Side home almost one week ago or on May 6. The Chicago Police Office Officer will be laid to rest this Wednesday at a church on the South Side of Chicago.

In a published article in FOX News, Preston was just 24 years old and had been in the service for three years when she was shot and killed. Authorities have charged and arrested the teens who gunned down Preston during that night.

Meanwhile, the funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity United Church of Christ, 400 W. 95th St. The family also announced that there will be a procession before the memorial service.

How the Chicago Police Officer Was Shot and Killed?

A shooting spree occurred on May 6 and Chicago Police Officer Areanah Preston was one of the six victims. Four suspects were arrested and they are:

  • Trevell Breeland, 19 years old
  • Joseph Brooks, 19 years old
  • Jakwon Buchanan, 18 years old
  • 16-year-old juvenile whose name was not released

They were all charged with murder and robbery in Preston’s death. Additionally, they were also charged with other armed robberies and the following:

  • Carjacking in Breeland’s case
  • felon in possession of a firearm

According to a published report in ABC7, the suspected triggerman, Brooks, fired Preston when he saw her reaching for her service weapon. Court documents revealed that Preston was able to return fire but she was struck to the face and neck.
