L.A. Nightclub Security Guard’s Death

Authorities claim that a security guard was killed by a mob of individuals on Sunday near a nightclub in Los Angeles.

In a press release on July 30 by Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles Police Department stated that the group of men in their 20s confronted the security guard outside of Hollywood’s Dragonfly nightclub after he lost his balance and fell into the street. They kicked and stomped on him.

The LAPD claims that seven to eleven attackers carried out the alleged incident, which took place at roughly 2 a.m. time zone. The LAPD said the reason for the altercation is “unknown” and has not given a motive for the assault.

According to the release from the LAPD, when police arrived on the scene, they discovered a male lying still on the street who was not breathing. The Los Angeles Fire Department transported him to a hospital, where he was later declared dead.

Sandifer was a “good guy” and a “family-oriented man

Before authorities arrived, the suspects, according to the police, fled on foot. Authorities informed KTLA 5 that they are unsure of where the argument between Sandifer and the males started—inside the club or outside. In response to PEOPLE’s request for further comment, the LAPD did not immediately react.

According to Sandifer’s cousin Evette Sandifer, he had been a security guard for a few years before his passing, according to the LA Times. The victim was the principal caregiver for his grandmother, who is receiving hospice care, and the father of two preteen girls.

Brittany Jones, Daniel’s ex-girlfriend and mother of his two young girls, expressed her heartbreak at his passing in an emotional video statement to CBS Los Angeles’ KCAL News.

Outside the club, a number of Sandifer’s friends, family, and coworkers gathered to remember her. They lit candles near the site. A buddy informed KTLA 5 that Sandifer was a “good guy” and a “family-oriented man.”
