The office of the New Hampshire attorney general has entered an investigation into an alleged attack that occurred on Monday against a gay couple who own a chocolate business in a city on the eastern edge of the state. NH.

The pair runs the Wm. while they both reside there. The Poole Confections business, located in the same Somersworth building, reported being attacked by a gang of young people who yelled gay slurs, inflicting injuries.
William Poole claimed in a Facebook post that he was attacked by youths trying to get into the couple’s second-floor home and sustained lacerations, bruises, and stitches in addition to being hit in the eye with a hard object.
In his letter, NPHR, he said, “I fear for my life and the life of my partner, and I fear that our home and business are going to be further enmity or damaged.” Without police protection, we won’t go back inside our house or place of business.
Alleged Gay Couple Attack, New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office Focused Investigation
In a previous piece, Poole outlined how, on July 16, two members of a small group of young people managed to scale the building and made an attempt to break into their home while shouting homophobic epithets at them when confronted on the sidewalk.
The New Hampshire Attorney General’s office has joined the inquiry into the event, according to Michael Garrity, a spokeswoman for the agency.
In a written reply, Garrity stated, “Our Civil Rights Unit is certainly aware of this incident and is actively working with the Somersworth Police Department and our law enforcement colleagues to look into it further.”
Garrity advised anybody with knowledge to get in touch with the attorney general’s office or the Somersworth Police Department.
