On Sunday, March 3, 2024, a registered sex offender was fatally stabbed by an unnamed woman whom he allegedly tried to sexually assault in a laundromat in 28000 block of U.S. Highway 190.
Unnamed Woman Stabbed A Registered Sex Offender That Led To His Death
Around 3:30 PM of March 3, 2024, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputies is coming to a laundromat business in 28000 block of U.S. Highway 190 as response to a report of an unresponsive man with stab wound. While on their way, they also received a separate call from an unnamed woman who claimed to have stabbed a man who attacked her, reported by the People.
It turned out that Nicholas Tranchant, 40 years old, with a “sharp weapon” tried to sexually assault the unnamed woman. The woman fought back, was injured and was able to use Tranchant’s sharp weapon to stabbed him. She then flees to safety.
Tranchant, a registered sex offender, was taken to a local hospital where he died later. He was a convicted sex offender, online sex offender as records confirm.

Sheriff Compliments The Courageous Unnamed Woman
Sheriff Randy Smith of St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Office compliments the “brave woman on the courage and strength she showed in fighting back against her attacker”. The unnamed woman was also injured after the fight with the registered sex offender, Nicholas Tranchant, was brought to a local hospital for treatment. Sheriff Smith also asked for prayers for the unnamed woman’s continued recovery.
According to St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Office, Tranchant was convicted in July 2003 because of indecent behavior with juveniles. In My 2008, he was convicted again for attempted aggravated rape and aggravated burglary. However, on December 21 of last year, he was released from jail on those charges and required to be a registered sex offender.
