Newly released US intelligence reports show how the war in Ukraine has hurt Russia, with vivid descriptions of sacrifices, losses, and actions that were not expected.
According to the declassified report, Russia has lost thousands of soldiers in the war with Ukraine. About 315,000 people have been killed or hurt. This shocking number comprises almost 90% of the initial troop count at the start of the war, indicating a human tragedy of unimaginable proportions.
Additionally, the study shows that Russia’s plans to modernize its military have been severely harmed, causing it to be 18 years behind schedule. This setback shows how much the conflict has affected Russia’s long-term strategic goals and defense powers.
Despite losing so many soldiers, the study shows that Russia has taken extraordinary steps to keep its military strong. Partially mobilizing 300,000 people was announced, along with lowering the standards for recruitment so that prisoners and older citizens could join. These actions show their desperation to keep operational strength and fill open positions.

1,300 armed vehicles on the ground of the Russian army
According to reports, the Russian army only has 1,300 armed vehicles on the ground, so they must use old T62 tanks from the 1970s. Furthermore, this shows how Russia’s armed resources are being used up and the difficulties they are having keeping their operations going.
Surprisingly, the US intelligence report and Ukraine’s General Staff both give very similar figures of how much Russia has lost. Ukraine estimates that 340,650 soldiers have died in the conflict as of December 12. This shows how badly the war has hurt Russia.
