Murder suspect of the Rapper Young Dolph caught with contraband in Shelby County Jail

Justin Johnson, one of the alleged shooters in the Dolph murders was recently arrested at Shelby County Jail in Tennessee on charges of illegally contraband. Authorities did not say what drugs were found but confirmed that a mobile phone was found in his cell in addition to the drugs. The sheriff’s office said in an email to Commercial Appeal adding that it would not provide further details.

Johnson released a rap song titled “No Statements,” which was recorded on a prison phone and posted to YouTube

The song was recorded on a prison phone. Johnson referred to Dolph’s death in a bold line rapping, “Let’s say I’m a rapper. The state says I’m a hired killer.” In April 2023, Mr. Johnson’s request for restoration of telephone and visitation rights was denied. His lawyers argued that the decision violated Mr. Johnson’s rights. He is known by his rap name Straight Drop and has been accused of shooting dead a Memphis rapper with the help of Cornelius Smith while Dolph was shopping for treats at Makeda’s Homemade Cookies. An autopsy said Dolph was shot 22 times during the attack hitting his neck, head, and torso. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
