On the early morning of May 20, Aderrien Murry, 11, reportedly called the 911 for assistance following his mother, Nakala Murry’s, request. However, upon responding to the domestic disturbance report, a Mississippi police officer allegedly shot Aderrien in the chest.

An article in CNN states that according to Carlos Moore, the attorney for Aderrien, there was no way that the 11-year-old boy was mistaken by the Mississippi police as an adult. This is because Aderrien’s call states that the subject of the domestic disturbance was a man who was more than 6 feet tall.

Reports say Aderrien was severely injured after sustaining fractured ribs, a collapsed lung, and lacerated liver. Fortunately, on May 24, the boy was released from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

According to Shapiro, on the morning of May 25, Nakala held a sit-in protest at Indianola City Hall demanding for the Mississippi police officer to be fired and charged in connection with the shooting. In addition, the body camera footage of the incident was also expected to be released tomorrow, May 27.

On the same day, news outlets allegedly tried to contact the police chief and other officials of the Indianola Police Department. However, they were told that the officials were not available at the moment.
