A recent NYC subway news reveals that an unidentified marine put Jordan Neely, a homeless Black man, in a chokehold that caused his death thereafter. However, a witness stated that although Neely was screaming aggressively, he did not attack anyone physically.

A recent NYC subway news reveals that on May 1, at around 2:30 p.m., a homeless Black man, Jordan Neely, 30, allegedly went erratic on a ride on an F train. Reports say Neely threatened passengers and threw garbage at them. Due to the incident, an unidentified marine, 24, put Neely in a chokehold for nearly 15 minutes. In addition, two other passengers reportedly restrained Neely’s arms and shoulders.

According to Vacchiano‘s update on the NYC subway news, Neely lost consciousness as the Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) arrived to revive him. The homeless Black man was immediately transported to a hospital but was pronounced dead thereafter.

Juan Alberto Vazquez, a passenger who witnessed the dispute, stated in an update on the NYC subway news that although Neely was screaming aggressively, he did not attack anyone physically. Vasquez stated that the homeless Black man complained about being hungry and thirsty. He also added that none of the passengers thought Neely was on the verge of dying and thought he only passed out.

Update on the NYC Subway News

According to Fung, an update on the NYC subway news states that on May 3, the Chief Medical Examiner of the New York’s Office ruled Neely’s death as homicide due to compression of his neck. The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office Alvin Bragg is also reportedly investigating the death of Neely. The officers of the New York Police Department took the Marine into custody but later released him with no charges.
