An article on the CBS News states that even when Yarl had already fallen to the ground, the shooting suspect allegedly gunned him again. Yarl was fortunately able to run from the house, however, he had to ask for help at three different homes before someone did. At around 10 p.m., the Kansas City Police responded to the crime scene.

Charges Faced by the Shooting Suspect
According to an article on ABC News, the prosecutors in Kansas City, Missouri have filed felony charges against the shooting suspect identified as Andrew D. Lester, 84. On April 17, at a news conference, Prosecutor Zachary Thompson of Clay County had announced two felony charges against Lester. These charges include one count of armed criminal action and one count of assault in the first degree which has a possibility of being sentenced to life in prison. To date, Yarl’s father states that despite being critically injured, his son is now released from the hospital and is currently recovering at their home.
