Giancarlo DiGenova, 44, of Essex, Vermont started working as a state trooper in 2009. Unfortunately, in December 2022, the Vermont state trooper was suspended after a bag that contained over $40,000 in valuables could not be located. The bag reportedly belonged to an individual who was taken into custody.

An article on the Fox News states that among the valuables that went missing were a Rolex watch worth $14,000, diamond stud earrings, a designer wallet, and a keychain. Fortunately, the watch was located at a relative of the Vermont state trooper in Massachusetts. However, the rest of the valuables still remained missing.

According to Propper, an investigation was started after another Vermont state trooper reported that DiGenova showed him a Rolex watch that he allegedly bought online. Thereafter, the investigators discovered that more valuables have gone missing from storage areas that DiGenova had access to.

Eventually, the Vermont state trooper turned himself in. On March 23, he is scheduled to appear in Burlington Court and on April 6, in Barre. The Vermont Troopers’ Association, which initially represented DiGenova, stated that they will no longer do so. The Vermont State Police also intends to review its policies and system to increase supervision and accountability.
