Raleigh, NC – Odds are increasing for a winter storm to impact central North Carolina from Friday night into Saturday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). The system could bring a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain, creating potentially hazardous conditions.

The NWS reports that areas from Greensboro to Raleigh are at risk for accumulating snow late Friday, with ice more likely along the I-95 corridor. Black ice and travel disruptions are expected Saturday, especially in early morning hours.

The storm’s exact track remains uncertain, affecting precipitation amounts and locations. Inland areas may see heavier snow, while southern and coastal regions face greater ice risks. Power outages are also possible where ice accumulation is heaviest.

Residents should monitor updates and prepare for hazardous travel. Emergency kits, including flashlights and extra supplies, are recommended.
