San Angelo, TX – A wintry mix of freezing rain, sleet, and light snow is expected to impact West Central Texas starting late Wednesday. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns that hazardous travel conditions could develop through early Friday due to slick roads.

According to the NWS, warmer temperatures have reduced the likelihood of significant snow accumulation. However, areas could still see snow flurries or accumulations under one inch. Light freezing rain and sleet may also create icy conditions on bridges and overpasses, even with limited ice buildup.

The affected area includes Abilene, San Angelo, and surrounding regions, where temperatures will hover near freezing during the storm. Drivers are urged to slow down and plan for extra travel time, especially overnight Thursday into Friday morning.

The wintry mix is expected to taper off by Friday morning, but elevated surfaces may remain icy until temperatures rise.
