Denver, CO – Snowfall and frigid temperatures will continue to impact Colorado residents today, creating hazardous travel conditions along I-25 and I-70. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon for the Denver area, with icy roads and visibility concerns affecting the morning commute.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Boulder, 2 to 4 inches of snow accumulation is expected in the foothills and urban areas through this afternoon. Drivers are advised to proceed with caution, as slick roads and limited visibility are anticipated. Temperatures will drop sharply, with wind chills dipping as low as -5°F in the metro area and -30°F in higher elevations.
Overnight, temperatures are forecast to remain around 21°F in Denver with light snow tapering off. By Wednesday, skies will clear, and sunny conditions will return, but highs will only reach the upper 30s. Chilly lows near 16°F will persist into Wednesday night.
The extended forecast shows a slight chance of snow returning Thursday, with highs near 34°F, followed by a clear and sunny Friday reaching 38°F.
For residents navigating the icy conditions, Colorado officials recommend delaying travel if possible and keeping emergency supplies in vehicles. Pedestrians are urged to exercise caution on sidewalks and crosswalks.
