Springfield, MO – Southern Missouri residents are preparing for frigid conditions and the potential for snow later this week as a storm system tracks across the region. Wind chill values are expected to drop below zero through Wednesday, with temperatures gradually rising before snow chances increase late Thursday night into Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, the storm’s track remains uncertain, but its path will determine snowfall amounts. A more northern trajectory could bring snow to Springfield and surrounding areas, while a southern track may spare the region. Travelers on major roads like Interstate 44 should monitor conditions closely and prepare for possible icy patches by Friday morning.

The forecast calls for highs near 25 degrees Tuesday, with lows plummeting to single digits overnight. Wind chills could fall as low as five degrees below zero. Wednesday and Thursday will see sunny skies, with temperatures climbing into the upper 30s. However, overnight lows will remain frigid, hovering in the teens.

By Thursday night, snow is likely, with a 50% chance of precipitation extending into Friday. Daytime highs Friday will reach the low 30s, but slick roads could pose safety hazards during the morning commute.
