Louisville, KY – Bitter cold temperatures will dominate the Louisville area this week, with snow showers likely beginning Friday into Saturday. Residents are urged to prepare for icy roadways and possible travel disruptions as conditions worsen heading into the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, highs on Wednesday and Thursday will remain in the mid-20s to low 30s, with wind chills plunging to single digits or below zero during the early morning hours. Calm, sunny weather will persist through Thursday, offering a brief reprieve before snow moves in Friday afternoon.

Forecasters predict snow showers starting late Friday and continuing into Saturday morning. Highs on Friday are expected to hover around 29°F, while overnight lows dip into the teens. Drivers on I-65 and surrounding highways should remain vigilant for rapidly changing conditions, as snow accumulation may lead to slick surfaces and reduced visibility.

The weekend outlook shows mostly cloudy skies on Saturday, with temperatures reaching a high near 31°F. Cold conditions are expected to persist into early next week. The National Weather Service advises travelers to monitor updates closely and pack emergency kits when driving in winter weather.

Residents should dress warmly, limit time outdoors, and take precautions to protect pets and property from the freezing temperatures. Stay tuned for further updates as Friday’s snowstorm approaches.
