Tulsa, OK – A Winter Storm Watch will take effect Thursday afternoon, with up to 7 inches of snow expected along the I-44 corridor. Dangerous travel conditions, power outages, and bitter cold are anticipated through Friday morning.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Tulsa warns that snowfall totals could reach 3 to 7 inches in eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas, with localized higher amounts possible. The heaviest snow is likely along and south of Interstate 44, where travel may become treacherous Thursday night into Friday. Residents are urged to prepare now by stocking safety kits, monitoring forecasts, and avoiding unnecessary travel during the storm.

Calm weather will precede the storm on Wednesday, with sunny skies and highs near 31°F. However, clouds will increase Thursday as snow develops in the afternoon, intensifying into the evening. The storm system will move out by midday Friday, leaving behind cold but dry conditions.

Weekend weather looks clearer, with sunny skies Saturday and highs in the upper 30s. Officials recommend taking action now to prepare for disruptions during the storm.
