Nashville, TN – Tennessee residents should prepare for snow Friday as a Gulf low-pressure system moves through the region, potentially bringing more than two inches of snow. Cold air and moisture are expected to create hazardous travel conditions, particularly along major highways such as I-40.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Nashville, the snow event will begin Friday afternoon and continue into Saturday morning. Forecasters predict a 60% to 80% chance of at least two inches of snow and a 35% to 50% chance for more than three inches in parts of Middle Tennessee. Slippery roads and travel delays are likely, with conditions especially dangerous overnight Friday.
Temperatures will remain 15 degrees below average, with lows in the teens and highs in the 30s this week. Tonight, expect lows around 21°F, while Wednesday will bring sunshine with a high near 32°F. Thursday night’s low of 23°F will set the stage for Friday’s snow showers, with accumulation expected after noon.
NWS advises residents to stock up on essentials like food, water, and batteries and finalize travel plans now. Motorists are urged to drive cautiously and monitor road conditions, especially on interstates and rural roads.
Looking ahead, the forecast shows clearing skies and highs in the mid-30s by Saturday, with temperatures gradually warming to near 40°F by Monday. Stay tuned to local updates as snowfall predictions may shift.
