Baltimore, MD – Residents across Maryland are urged to exercise caution as winter weather persists, creating hazardous road conditions into Tuesday morning. Gusty winds and freezing temperatures continue to make travel challenging, especially on bridges and overpasses.
According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for Garrett and Allegany counties in Maryland, as well as parts of West Virginia. Additional snow accumulations of up to two inches and a light glaze of ice are expected, with wind gusts reaching 45 mph.
Drivers should delay non-essential travel and prepare for slick roads if commuting is unavoidable. Motorists are encouraged to pack emergency supplies, including flashlights, water, and food, in case of delays. Road conditions can be checked by dialing 511.
Looking ahead, Baltimore and surrounding areas will experience mostly sunny skies on Tuesday, with a high of 33°F and breezy winds. Conditions remain partly cloudy Tuesday night, with temperatures dropping to 19°F. By Friday night, snow is expected to return, with accumulations likely into Saturday morning.
Additionally, a Gale Warning remains in effect for the middle to lower Chesapeake Bay through Tuesday afternoon. Boaters are advised to stay ashore and monitor updates closely.
The extended forecast calls for milder temperatures into the weekend, with highs near 35°F on Friday and potential snow by Saturday. Residents should remain alert to updates and prepare for possible disruptions.
