Pueblo, CO – A powerful winter storm is bringing heavy snow and hazardous road conditions to southern Colorado, including Pueblo County, today. Total snow accumulations are expected to range from 4 to 6 inches, with localized amounts of up to 10 inches possible in western Pueblo and southern El Paso counties. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning, in effect through 5 p.m. Tuesday.
According to the National Weather Service, snowfall began overnight and will intensify throughout Tuesday morning. Travel along I-25 is expected to be treacherous, particularly during peak commuting hours. Drivers are urged to use caution, carry emergency supplies, and check road conditions by calling 511.
By Tuesday night, snow will taper off with lows dropping to around 6 degrees. Wind chill values could plunge to -5 degrees, increasing the risk of frostbite for those exposed to the cold. Sunny conditions are expected Wednesday, but high temperatures will remain below freezing at 32 degrees.
Looking ahead, Thursday brings a slight chance of snow showers, with another round of light snowfall possible late Saturday into Sunday. Temperatures will remain well below normal, with overnight lows in the single digits throughout the week.
Residents should take precautions to stay safe during the storm, avoid unnecessary travel, and monitor local weather updates for further changes.
