Indianapolis, IN – A sharp drop in temperatures is set to sweep across Indiana tonight, with lows reaching the single digits in many areas. Scattered snow showers moving inland from Lake Michigan could impact parts of the Wabash Valley, with occasional flurries expected elsewhere. Residents should brace for gusty winds, which will begin to diminish overnight, making conditions feel even colder.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, the combination of falling temperatures and wind will create hazardous conditions. Wind chills could plunge below zero by Wednesday morning, posing risks of frostbite for exposed skin within minutes. Residents are urged to limit time outdoors, dress in layers, and ensure pets are sheltered.

The extended forecast shows a cold stretch lasting through the week. Tuesday will bring partly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 20s, but temperatures will plummet to around 5°F by evening. Wednesday will see abundant sunshine but highs only near 19°F, with overnight lows of 3°F. Wind chills could reach dangerous levels again by Thursday morning.

By late Thursday, sunny skies will persist, but highs will stay around 20°F. Snow chances return Friday afternoon, with light accumulations possible on untreated roadways. Drivers should remain cautious during the morning and evening commutes.
