Marquette, MI – A wintry mix of lake effect snow showers and bitter cold temperatures will impact Marquette and surrounding areas Tuesday, with potential snow accumulations creating slippery travel conditions. Snowfall of up to four inches is expected near the Marquette-Alger county line, while areas along Lake Superior could see up to an inch.
According to the National Weather Service, snow will likely intensify during the afternoon, accompanied by gusts up to 25 mph. Lows will dip into the single digits in the interior west Monday night, with wind chills making it feel even colder. Commuters are urged to exercise caution, especially on untreated roads.
The forecast for Tuesday includes highs around 19°F and widespread snow showers during the day. Conditions will persist into Tuesday night, with new snow accumulations of one to two inches possible. Wind chills are forecast to drop between zero and 10°F, further emphasizing the need for proper cold-weather precautions.
Looking ahead, Wednesday will bring another chance of snow, especially in the morning, with a high near 17°F. By Thursday, sunny skies and calmer conditions are expected, with highs climbing to the mid-20s. However, snow chances return late Friday night and into the weekend.
Residents should monitor updates from local authorities and prepare for hazardous travel conditions. Those venturing outdoors are encouraged to bundle up and limit exposure to the bitter cold.
