Massachusetts Wind Advisory: Gusts Over 30 MPH Expected Starting Tuesday

Boston, MA – Strong winds and below-freezing temperatures are set to dominate the weather across eastern Massachusetts this week. Residents should prepare for wind gusts exceeding 30 mph, beginning Tuesday morning and continuing through Thursday night, making outdoor travel and activities potentially hazardous.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), Tuesday will bring mostly sunny skies with a high of 27°F. Northwest winds will range from 14 to 18 mph, with gusts reaching 31 mph. Wind chills could dip into the teens during the early morning and evening hours, heightening the risk of frostbite for those outside without proper clothing.

Wednesday will continue the trend with highs near 28°F and wind gusts up to 30 mph. While skies will remain sunny, biting winds will persist. The strongest gusts are expected near coastal areas like Gloucester and Hyannis. Those commuting on major roadways, including I-93 and Route 128, should exercise caution, as high-profile vehicles may struggle with the gusty conditions.

The winds will subside slightly by Friday, bringing calmer conditions and a rise in temperatures to a high of 39°F. However, nighttime lows will remain near 24°F, with wind chills keeping conditions frigid.

Residents are advised to secure loose outdoor items, bundle up in layers, and check on neighbors or pets vulnerable to the cold. The NWS recommends limiting time outdoors during peak wind gusts to reduce exposure to the biting temperatures.
