Omaha, NE – Nebraska residents are enduring a bitterly cold start to the week, with sub-freezing temperatures dominating the forecast. Monday’s high reached just 19°F, and tonight’s lows are expected to dip to near 10°F with wind chills as low as -5°F.

According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday will bring similar conditions, with highs between 16°F and 21°F and mostly cloudy skies. Light northwest winds may reach 18 mph, making it feel even colder. Drivers should remain cautious of icy patches, especially on less-traveled roads such as State Highway 31 and Interstate 80.

Looking ahead, temperatures will gradually climb, offering some relief. Wednesday is expected to reach a high of 25°F under partly sunny skies, while Thursday could bring highs near 36°F. However, forecasters are eyeing a slight chance of snow late Thursday night as southwest winds push through the area.

By the weekend, Omaha residents can anticipate a return to milder conditions. Both Saturday and Sunday will feature highs in the low 30s with calmer winds. While the gradual warm-up offers a break from the frigid cold, overnight lows in the teens will keep winter gear essential.

Officials recommend taking precautions during morning commutes, as icy conditions may persist. Bundle up, limit outdoor exposure, and check road conditions before traveling.
