Greenville, SC – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for multiple counties across western North Carolina as freezing rain continues to create dangerous travel conditions Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, areas including Yancey, Mitchell, Burke Mountains, McDowell Mountains, and others are experiencing additional ice accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch. Winds are gusting up to 30 mph in some regions. The advisory is set to expire by 1 p.m.

Icing is already causing slippery roads, bridges, and sidewalks, complicating the morning commute for many residents. The affected counties include Alexander, Greater Burke, and portions of Iredell and Davie, where advisories end at 10 a.m.

Drivers are urged to slow down, use caution, and monitor local forecasts for updates.
