Danville, VA – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for parts of North Carolina and Virginia until 7 p.m. Monday. The advisory warns of mixed precipitation, including light snow, sleet, and ice, creating hazardous travel conditions.

The National Weather Service (NWS) reports potential ice accumulation of up to one-tenth of an inch and less than an inch of additional snow or sleet. Areas affected include Danville, South Boston, Wilkesboro, and Yanceyville. Residents should expect slippery roads and delayed travel times.

According to the NWS, conditions will persist throughout Monday, with temperatures hovering near freezing. Drivers are urged to slow down and exercise caution. The latest road conditions can be accessed by dialing 511.

Local officials recommend avoiding unnecessary travel until roads are treated. If travel is unavoidable, equip vehicles with an emergency kit, including blankets and water.
