Elko, NV – A winter weather advisory is in effect for Northern Elko and the Ruby Mountains until 1 a.m. Tuesday. Snowfall between 2 and 4 inches is expected, with elevations above 6,000 feet seeing as much as 10 inches.
According to the National Weather Service, hazardous conditions will impact travel on roads, bridges, and overpasses throughout Monday. Commuters are urged to drive cautiously as slick and icy surfaces could make travel dangerous. Key areas include Mountain City, Charleston, and Tuscarora, where snow accumulation could be significant.
Authorities recommend slowing down and monitoring local road conditions through the state’s 511 system. Residents venturing outside are advised to watch for icy sidewalks and driveways, which pose a fall risk.
