Blizzard Warning in Kansas City: Hazardous Travel Expected Until Midnight

Kansas City, MO – A blizzard warning remains in effect for parts of Kansas and Missouri, including the Kansas City metro area, until midnight. The National Weather Service warns of falling and blowing snow, with gusts reaching 35 mph and visibilities below 1/4 mile in some areas.

The impacted region includes northeast Kansas and central, north-central, and northwest Missouri. While additional snowfall is expected to be light, dangerous road conditions are a major concern.

According to the National Weather Service, travel should be limited to emergencies. Those who must drive are advised to carry a winter survival kit and stay with their vehicle if stranded.

Local residents are encouraged to check road conditions before heading out. In Kansas, dial 511 for updates, and in Missouri, visit traveler.modot.org.
