St. Louis, MO – Residents of Missouri are urged to prepare for worsening travel conditions as a winter storm intensifies Sunday evening. Snowfall is expected to transition from a wintry mix, bringing up to 4 inches of accumulation by Monday morning, with wind gusts exceeding 30 mph.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in St. Louis, the heaviest snowfall will likely occur overnight, particularly north of Interstate 70. Visibility will be severely reduced in many areas due to blowing snow, creating near-blizzard conditions. Officials have issued a strong advisory against non-essential travel through early Monday.
Temperatures will drop sharply overnight to a low of 19°F, with icy road conditions likely by the morning commute. Monday’s forecast remains cold, with highs near 25°F and wind chills making it feel even colder.
Looking ahead, northern Missouri and western Illinois will experience bitterly cold weather throughout the week. Tuesday will be mostly sunny but frigid, with a high of 23°F. Overnight temperatures are expected to drop into single digits, reaching lows near 7°F. By Wednesday, clear skies will persist, but daytime highs won’t rise above 21°F.
