Richford, VT – Snowfall is set to impact Vermont and northern New York early this week, with up to 8 inches forecasted. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 1 a.m. Tuesday through 7 p.m. Wednesday. Travel could become hazardous, particularly during Tuesday morning and evening commutes.

According to the National Weather Service, residents in Franklin and Lamoille counties in Vermont and northern Franklin County in New York should expect 3-8 inches of snow. Higher elevations, including Mt. Mansfield and Jay Peak, may see over a foot of accumulation.

Roads across major routes like Route 100 near Stowe and VT-15 in Underhill may become slippery and challenging to navigate. Drivers are urged to slow down and allow extra time for travel. Visit New England 511 or 511 NY for the latest road conditions.

Temperatures will remain cold throughout the week, keeping snowpack intact and creating icy conditions on sidewalks, stairs, and driveways. The public is advised to watch for slippery surfaces when walking outdoors.

Looking ahead, the region will experience clearing skies by Thursday, though temperatures will stay below freezing. By Friday, milder conditions could begin melting some snow, leading to potential refreezing overnight.
