Huntsville, AL – Residents in North Alabama should prepare for strong winds and possible severe storms beginning this evening and continuing into Monday. A wind advisory is in effect from 3 p.m. Sunday to 3 p.m. Monday, with gusts reaching up to 35 mph.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Huntsville, a fast-moving line of showers and thunderstorms is expected to arrive tonight. While the risk of severe storms is low, some areas may experience damaging winds and heavy rainfall. Residents are urged to secure outdoor furniture and decorations, as loose items could become projectiles in high winds.
Drivers on major roadways, including I-565 and US-72, should remain cautious, especially during periods of heavy rain. Sudden gusts may impact vehicle stability, particularly for high-profile vehicles. The strongest winds are expected late tonight through early Monday morning.
Monday’s forecast includes lingering rain and wind, with colder temperatures bringing a slight chance of snow showers before noon. Highs will reach only 35 degrees, with wind chills making it feel even colder. By midweek, the area is expected to see clearing skies and temperatures rebounding into the 40s.
Residents are encouraged to stay weather-aware by monitoring updates from NWS Huntsville and ensuring they have multiple ways to receive alerts.
