Grand Junction, CO – Snowfall in Colorado’s northern and central mountains is expected to linger through Monday evening, potentially impacting travel on I-70 and surrounding roadways. With temperatures dropping into the low 20s tonight, conditions will remain icy, particularly during the morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Grand Junction, light snow showers will taper off by late Monday night, though slick surfaces may persist. The current system has brought snowfall to elevations above 6,000 feet, with areas higher up receiving accumulations of 3-5 inches.

The extended forecast predicts mostly sunny skies starting Tuesday, with daytime highs reaching the low 40s, but overnight temperatures will plummet to the teens. Monday night’s snow showers carry a 20% chance of continuation, particularly before midnight. Motorists should remain cautious as untreated roads could freeze.

On Tuesday, conditions are expected to clear, but eastbound drivers on I-70 should plan for potential delays due to icy patches. Wednesday and Thursday promise clear skies and highs in the upper 30s, offering a brief reprieve from precipitation.

Residents are urged to monitor weather updates and check road conditions before traveling. Be prepared for sudden weather changes typical in the region during winter.
