Birmingham, AL – Residents across central Alabama should prepare for a wet and windy Sunday as showers and gusty winds move in.
According to the National Weather Service, rain is expected to begin early Sunday and intensify throughout the afternoon, with a 70% chance of precipitation. Winds will increase to 15-20 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph by evening. Drivers on major roadways such as I-65 and US-280 should use caution, as reduced visibility and slick roads are likely.
Temperatures will climb to a high of 58 degrees Sunday before falling to the upper 30s overnight. Rain will continue into Sunday night, with a 90% chance of showers and breezy conditions.
The rest of the week sees cooler, calmer weather, with highs in the 30s to 50s and lows dipping into the 20s by midweek. Residents should take advantage of the dry start to Saturday before rain arrives.
