Springfield, MO – Residents of several Missouri counties are preparing for dangerous winter conditions as an Ice Storm Warning has been issued. The warning covers Dent, Shannon, Texas, and Wright counties from 6 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Monday.

The National Weather Service predicts up to 3 inches of snow and sleet, with ice accumulation ranging from a quarter to half an inch. Winds are expected to reach 35 mph, increasing the risk of downed power lines and tree limbs. Officials warn of hazardous travel conditions, especially on bridges and overpasses.

According to the National Weather Service, significant ice buildup could cause long-lasting power outages. Residents are urged to avoid travel and report any downed power lines to their utility companies.

Local authorities recommend stocking up on essential supplies, including food, water, and batteries, ahead of the storm. Those relying on electricity for medical equipment should make alternative arrangements.
