State College, PA – A snow squall warning has been issued for parts of Pennsylvania, including Bedford, Centre, and surrounding counties, creating hazardous travel conditions.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in State College reported Friday that intense bursts of heavy snow and gusty winds were sweeping through areas like New Enterprise and Blue Knob State Park. Visibility is rapidly falling to less than one-quarter mile, with wind gusts reaching up to 35 mph. The squall is expected to impact Interstate 99 between mile markers 10 and 14.

According to NWS radar data, the squall was located near Northern Bedford County at 6:12 p.m. The warning is in effect until 7 p.m., with conditions making travel potentially dangerous.

Additional warnings issued for Centre, Clinton, and Union counties highlight risks for Interstate 80 and 180 travelers. The NWS also noted the likelihood of flash freezes on roads, making conditions treacherous.

Drivers are advised to delay travel if possible or use extra caution. Sudden whiteouts can cause severe visibility loss, making accidents more likely.
