Hill City, KS – Residents in Graham and Norton counties should prepare for significant snow this weekend, as a winter storm is forecast to bring between 5 and 11 inches of snow starting Saturday afternoon. Dangerous travel conditions are expected, especially along the I-70 corridor.

According to the National Weather Service, precipitation will begin as freezing rain or sleet Saturday afternoon before transitioning to snow by evening. Heavy snow and blowing winds up to 35 mph will create near-zero visibility late Saturday night into Sunday morning. Temperatures will feel as low as 15 degrees below zero due to wind chills Sunday.

Motorists are urged to avoid travel if possible and pack an emergency kit, including food, water, and flashlights, in case of delays. Call 511 for updated road conditions.
