Philadelphia, PA – A winter weather advisory is in effect today as light snow develops across southeastern Pennsylvania, northern Delaware, and southern New Jersey. Forecasters warn of hazardous road conditions during the evening commute.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the advisory will remain active from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Snowfall could reach up to two inches in some areas, with roads quickly becoming slick as temperatures drop below freezing. Major roadways, including I-76 and I-95, may experience delays and reduced visibility.
Residents should prepare for slower travel times and avoid unnecessary trips this evening. Those venturing out are advised to use caution, especially on untreated roads, sidewalks, and driveways, where icy surfaces increase the risk of accidents.
Looking ahead, Saturday offers a respite with sunny skies and a high of 33°F, though winds could gust up to 25 mph. Snow is likely to return Sunday night into Monday, with higher accumulations predicted. Sunday will remain mostly sunny during the day with highs near 34°F before clouds roll in after sunset.
For Monday, heavy snow and freezing conditions are expected, potentially complicating the morning commute. The NWS forecasts an 80% chance of snow, with temperatures hovering in the low 30s.
Travelers should check for updates on weather.gov and plan accordingly. Winter safety kits, including blankets, flashlights, and ice scrapers, are strongly recommended for drivers during this period.
