Texas Weather Update: Mild Temps Expected in Amarillo This Weekend Along I-40

Amarillo, TX — Residents can expect unseasonably mild temperatures this weekend, with sunny skies and highs climbing into the mid-60s Saturday. These warmer-than-average conditions provide an excellent opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities before cooler weather returns next week.

According to the National Weather Service, Saturday will bring partly sunny skies and a high near 66, with light southwest winds of 10 to 15 mph. Overnight, temperatures will dip to around 27, with wind chills making it feel colder. Sunday will remain sunny but slightly cooler, with a high near 55 and north-northwest winds of 15 to 20 mph.

Heading into next week, a cold front will drop temperatures Monday, with a high near 43 and lows reaching 23 overnight. Tuesday will feel even colder, with highs in the mid-30s.

Travelers along I-40 and surrounding roadways should take advantage of clear, dry conditions over the weekend, as no precipitation is expected. However, bundle up during the mornings, as wind chill values may feel below freezing.

Looking ahead, temperatures will gradually rebound by midweek, with highs nearing 40 on Wednesday and Thursday under mostly sunny skies. Residents should prepare for fluctuating conditions and keep an eye on updated forecasts for potential weather changes.
