Milwaukee, WI – Bitter cold and the possibility of snow are set to make this weekend a challenging one for Wisconsin residents. Temperatures are expected to plunge into single digits overnight, with lake-effect snow possible by Sunday night.

According to the National Weather Service, Friday will be dry but cold, with highs near 23°F and strong northwest winds making it feel even colder. Saturday is forecast to be sunny but frigid, with highs around 21°F and wind chills dropping below zero in some areas.

The weekend’s main weather concern begins Sunday night when snow chances increase, especially in southeastern Wisconsin. Lake-effect snow showers could develop along the Lake Michigan shoreline, potentially impacting morning commutes on Monday. Highs Monday are expected to reach only 28°F, with snow tapering off by midday.

Residents planning travel should be prepared for slick roads and reduced visibility Sunday night into Monday. Officials recommend stocking vehicles with emergency supplies and checking road conditions before heading out.

Looking ahead, temperatures will remain below average through next week, with highs in the low to mid-20s and lows in the teens. Those venturing outdoors are advised to dress in layers and limit exposure to the cold.
