Statewide Search Underway for Indiana Man Following Officer-Involved Shooting

Orange County, IN – Authorities have issued a statewide Blue Alert for Austin Schepers, 33, wanted in connection with the shooting of an Orange County deputy.

The incident occurred Thursday night, leaving the deputy injured and prompting a manhunt. According to the Indiana State Police, Schepers, a white male, stands 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs 150 pounds, and has brown hair and hazel eyes. He has distinctive tattoos on his neck and face, including a cross under his left eye.

Schepers was last seen early Friday morning in West Baden, driving a silver 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix with Indiana license plate CRT921. An unidentified individual reportedly accompanied him in the vehicle. Police have warned the public that Schepers may be armed and dangerous.

Residents are urged not to approach the suspect and instead report any sightings to the Indiana State Police Bloomington Post at 812-332-4411 or call 911 immediately.
