Albany, NY – A band of moderate to heavy lake-effect snow is sweeping through the southern Adirondacks, blanketing Saratoga and Washington Counties tonight. Rapid visibility reductions and slick roadways are creating hazardous travel conditions, particularly along the Northway (I-87).

According to the National Weather Service, the snow band will persist through midnight, with abrupt changes in driving conditions expected. Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and maintain safe distances between vehicles. Wind gusts reaching 28 mph will add to visibility challenges, especially during the evening commute and early morning hours.

Temperatures are forecast to drop to 27°F tonight, increasing the likelihood of icy spots on untreated roads. Residents should avoid using cruise control when driving in these conditions and prepare for potential delays.

Looking ahead, Friday will bring relief with partly sunny skies and a high near 34°F. However, gusty west winds of up to 25 mph will keep conditions brisk. Saturday night could see a slight chance of snow showers, but the weekend will remain mostly cloudy with highs in the upper 20s.
