Melbourne, FL – Temperatures across central Florida will drop sharply this weekend as a strong cold front moves into the region. Residents along I-95 and surrounding areas can expect wind chills to make temperatures feel like the mid-30s early Saturday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, lows in Melbourne and neighboring cities will dip into the low 40s starting Friday night. The coldest air is expected Saturday and Sunday mornings, with frost possible in inland areas. Highs during the day will remain below normal, peaking in the low to mid-60s.
Those planning outdoor activities should prepare for brisk northwest winds, with gusts up to 20 mph through Saturday. Beachgoers should also note the moderate risk of rip currents along the Atlantic coast, especially near Volusia and Brevard counties.
Looking ahead, the five-day forecast shows a gradual warming trend. Highs will climb back to the low 70s by Monday, with mostly sunny skies. However, nighttime temperatures will remain chilly, falling into the low 40s through midweek.
Residents are encouraged to dress warmly, protect sensitive plants, and monitor updates for any frost advisories. Drivers along I-95 should exercise caution during early morning hours when wind chills are at their lowest.
