Birmingham, AL – Central Alabama residents should prepare for a cold evening as temperatures dip into the low 30s Thursday night. Sunny skies will bring some relief Friday, with highs reaching the low 50s, but rain is on the horizon by Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service, tonight’s calm, clear conditions will lead to widespread freezing temperatures across the region, with Birmingham expected to hit a low of 32°F. Residents are advised to bundle up and take precautions for pets and plants left outdoors.
Friday promises bright sunshine with light northwest winds, keeping daytime highs around 53°F. Friday night will see temperatures drop again, hitting lows in the upper 20s. As we head into the weekend, Saturday will remain sunny but cooler, with highs near 47°F.
Rain chances increase significantly Sunday, with an 80% likelihood of showers during the day and into the evening. Winds will pick up slightly, and temperatures will hover near 59°F before dropping into the upper 30s Sunday night.
The first workweek of the year begins with mostly cloudy skies and cooler conditions Monday, as highs struggle to reach 41°F. Overnight temperatures will plummet further Monday night, bottoming out around 25°F.
