Jackson, MS – Chilly temperatures are expected to settle across Mississippi tonight, with lows dipping into the mid-30s in Jackson and nearby towns. Residents should prepare for patchy fog, especially after 11 p.m., potentially affecting visibility on major roadways, including I-55 and Highway 49.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Jackson, calm winds and mostly clear skies will accompany these overnight lows, creating conditions for frost in outlying areas. Drivers are urged to exercise caution during early Friday morning commutes as reduced visibility and slick spots may develop.

By Friday morning, fog will lift, giving way to sunny skies and a high of 60 degrees. Light winds will persist throughout the day, making it an ideal opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities. However, frost risks will return Friday night as temperatures drop to the mid-30s again.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday will remain sunny with highs near 56, but rain is forecast to arrive late Saturday night. A 90% chance of rain Sunday, including severe thunderstorms, could bring gusty winds and heavy downpours.

Residents are encouraged to stay updated on changing weather conditions and secure loose outdoor items ahead of Sunday night’s storms.
