Pendleton, OR – Residents of Oregon and Washington are advised to prepare for hazardous winter weather starting Thursday evening. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued Winter Weather Advisories for multiple regions, predicting snow, freezing rain, and icy roads.
According to the NWS, precipitation will begin around 7 p.m. in Oregon’s Blue Mountain foothills and North Central areas, with freezing rain causing up to 0.1 inches of ice accumulation. In Washington, snowfall of 1-3 inches is expected in the Yakima and Kittitas Valleys, starting at 1 a.m. Friday.
Highways such as U.S. Route 26 near Oregon and Satus Pass in Washington could see dangerous conditions. Ice accumulation near Sisters, OR, and Roslyn, WA, may further complicate travel. Commuters are urged to use caution and plan ahead for Friday morning travel.
Drivers are encouraged to check tripcheck.com in Oregon or wsdot.wa.gov/travel in Washington for updates.
Prepare by stocking emergency kits, delaying non-essential travel, and staying informed about changing conditions. Stay safe and connected as the Pacific Northwest navigates this storm.
