St. Louis, MO – A powerful winter storm is forecast to hit portions of Missouri and Illinois this weekend, bringing significant snow and ice. The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Watch for Saturday evening through late Sunday night.

According to the advisory, snowfall could total between 8 and 12 inches in affected areas, with ice accumulations reaching up to half an inch. Cities like Hannibal, Quincy, and St. Louis are expected to see dangerous conditions that may render travel nearly impossible.

Power outages and tree damage are also likely, particularly in regions experiencing higher ice accumulations. The storm is anticipated to disrupt Monday morning commutes, prompting residents to make preparations now.

The National Weather Service urges residents to monitor updates and avoid unnecessary travel during the storm. Emergency supplies, such as food, water, and flashlights, are strongly recommended.
