Cleveland, OH – Lake-effect snow continues to blanket Northeast Ohio, with a snow warning in effect until 7 p.m. Thursday. Cuyahoga, Geauga, and Lake counties face hazardous travel conditions as visibility drops and roads become slick.

According to the National Weather Service, snowfall rates of up to 2 inches per hour are reducing visibility below one mile, particularly along I-90. Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel and ensure vehicles are winter-ready with tire chains and emergency kits. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are expected by this evening.

The hazardous weather doesn’t end there. A Winter Storm Watch will take effect Friday morning and last through Sunday, with heavy snowfall of 6 inches or more expected. Winds could gust up to 35 mph, leading to blowing and drifting snow. Those traveling this weekend should monitor forecasts and prepare for delays or cancellations.

Friday will bring highs near 31°F and blustery conditions with snow showers continuing. By Saturday, additional accumulation of up to 3 inches is possible. Sunday will see a brief respite with mostly cloudy skies and highs near 27°F, but another system may bring more snow early next week.

Officials advise caution when venturing outdoors, as icy roads and poor visibility are likely to persist. For the latest updates, visit weather.gov or tune into local radio stations.
