Northern Indiana is bracing for light snow tonight, with accumulations of up to two inches expected south of US 30. Forecasters warn of slippery road conditions into Friday morning. A larger storm system could bring heavier snow and bitterly cold temperatures starting Sunday night.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Northern Indiana, a fast-moving clipper system will bring snow showers overnight, tapering off early Friday. Lake effect snow could add accumulations near Lake Michigan. Temperatures will drop to the mid-20s tonight before rebounding to highs near 26°F on Friday.
Another winter storm could hit the region Sunday night through Monday, with snow and dangerous wind chills possible. While exact snowfall amounts are uncertain, confidence is higher for accumulating snow across southern and central Indiana. Those traveling during this period should monitor updates closely.
Residents are urged to drive cautiously tonight as untreated roads may become slick. Snow likely will return Sunday evening, potentially affecting Monday morning commutes. Arctic air will arrive with this system, with wind chills dipping below zero early next week.
